Ibiza has little coves with clear water, whitewashed houses and evenings that can end at one of the island’s big clubs or at a quiet table near the beach. You can walk within the walls of Dalt Vila, watch the sunset near Sant Antoni and spend the next day on the northern beaches.
Where you stay makes a real difference to your holiday. I’d choose very different areas for a trip with friends, a week with children and a break as a couple. Here are my recommendations for six great areas in Ibiza, with hotels to suit different plans and budgets.

Below, I’ll go through each area and recommend hotels in several price ranges, so you can find the right base for your holiday in Ibiza.
1. Ibiza Town - best area for first-time visitors 🏰
- 📍 Distance to the centre: You’ll be in the island’s main town. Dalt Vila, the harbour, Figueretes and Marina Botafoch are different parts of it.
- 🚕 Transport: You can walk locally. Buses or taxis are useful for other beaches and hotels on the opposite side of the harbour.
- ✈️ Journey from Ibiza Airport: Around 10 to 20 minutes by car, depending on traffic and your hotel’s location.
- 💰 Price level: €€ to €€€. A central hotel can be expensive in high season, even without many facilities.
- 👮 Safety: Keep an eye on your phone and bag in busy streets, and bring shoes with a good grip for the steep sections of Dalt Vila.
Ibiza Town, also called Eivissa, is my first choice for a first visit when you want a mix of experiences. You can go out for dinner, walk up to Dalt Vila and spend the evening around the harbour without arranging transport for everything.
The town suits couples and friends who want more than a beach and a hotel restaurant on their doorstep.
Dalt Vila is the fortified Old Town above the harbour. It’s a beautiful setting for a stay, but the hills and steps make a difference, especially with suitcases or in the summer heat.
Down by the harbour, you’ll have easier access to restaurants and more evening activity. Figueretes is on the other side of the town centre and is worth considering if you’d also like to walk from your hotel to a beach and promenade.

I’d stay in the central part of town or Figueretes on a trip without a car. Hotels around Marina Botafoch can also be good, but expect a longer walk around the harbour to reach Dalt Vila.
The broad name Ibiza Town doesn’t tell you enough about the location. The hotels below offer three different options: a stay in Dalt Vila, suites near the beach and a simpler base in town.
Don’t choose Ibiza Town solely to be near all the island’s clubs. They’re spread across different locations, so even with a central address, buses or taxis will often be part of your evening.

Places to Stay in Ibiza Town
Parador de Ibiza - best hotel for a stay in Dalt Vila
Parador de Ibiza is in Dalt Vila, and it’s my suggestion if staying in the historic part of town should be part of the holiday itself. The rooms have air conditioning and room service is available, but the real reason to choose it is to stay up among the walls rather than on a conventional beachfront promenade.
I’d prefer Figueretes for a holiday with lots of swimming; for evening walks in the Old Town, this makes much more sense.

One Ibiza Suites - best suites for the beach and town life
One Ibiza Suites is in Figueretes, around 20 metres from the sandy beach, with a seasonal outdoor pool and sun terrace. It’s a good choice for combining a stay in town with swims without taking a taxi to another beach first.
I’d prioritise a suite with the space you need and use the promenade as the starting point for a holiday where beach time and evening strolls are both easy.

Ryans Budget - a good budget option for a trip with friends
Ryans Budget is a simple option in Ibiza Town when your main aim is a central base and you’d rather spend the rest of your money on food, transport and nights out. I’d consider it for a short trip with friends where the hotel is mainly somewhere to sleep between plans.
It’s a different type of stay from the beach hotels, so the price would need to be noticeably lower before I’d choose it over more space by the water.

2. Playa d’en Bossa - best area for the beach and big clubs 🎧
- 📍 Distance to the centre: Around 3 to 5 km from central Ibiza Town, depending on where along the beach your hotel is.
- 🚕 Transport: You can walk between local hotels, the beach and some clubs. Buses or taxis are useful for Ibiza Town and the rest of the island.
- ✈️ Journey from Ibiza Airport: Allow roughly 10 to 15 minutes by car, or longer in heavy traffic.
- 💰 Price level: €€ to €€€. Beach hotels and popular party dates can be expensive.
- 👮 Safety: Read reviews about noise, watch your belongings in crowds and plan your journey home after a late night.
Playa d’en Bossa is my suggestion when days on the beach and nights at big clubs are the whole point of the trip. The long beach is south of Ibiza Town, and you can stay near venues including Ushuaïa and Hï Ibiza.
That makes it practical for a trip with friends when you’d like to pop back to the hotel between a day by the water and your evening plans.
There’s a difference between staying right by the clubs and further along the beach. Playa d’en Bossa covers quite a large area, so check the actual walking route to the places you’ll be visiting.
That also applies if you’re choosing a hotel for a particular concert or DJ. I’d check the event’s venue and date first, then choose a location, so you don’t pay extra to be near the wrong place.

Hotels range from simple places set a little back from the beach to hotels with spas and suites near the water. Garbi is a good example of somewhere you can enjoy both the beach and the facilities between nights out.
Ibiza Sun is a better fit if a suite and pool matter more than stepping straight onto the sand. Club Can Bossa is worth comparing when you want to keep more of your budget for the rest of the trip.
I’d choose another area for a holiday where complete peace is the priority. Music, traffic and people heading home can be part of the experience, and you may also notice how close the airport is.
Families can find resort holidays here, but Santa Eulària or Cala Llonga would be my first places to look. For a trip built around nights out, Playa d’en Bossa’s location can save several taxi journeys over the holiday.
Places to Stay in Playa d’en Bossa
Hotel Garbi Ibiza & Spa - best beach hotel with a spa near the nightlife
Garbi is right on Playa d’en Bossa, with a pool, spa and beach bar, so you can spend your days at the hotel and have the clubs within a manageable walk. It suits couples and friends who want more comfort between nights out and direct access to the beach.
I’d pay extra for that location on a short trip where time can easily disappear travelling between the hotel, beach and taxis.

Ibiza Sun Apartments - best choice for suites and pools near the beach
Ibiza Sun is around 200 metres from the beach and has two outdoor pools, a hot tub and a bar. It’s a good choice if you’d like a suite and a pool area as your base, without needing a hotel right on the sand.
I’d consider it for a trip with friends or as a couple when you want to go out but also have a little distance from the busiest stretches of the beachfront.

Club Can Bossa - a good budget option set back from the beach
Club Can Bossa is around 400 metres from the beach and has an outdoor pool. You can take a break at the hotel without paying for a beachfront address, which can be a good trade-off on a trip with plenty of plans elsewhere.
I’d choose it when the price is noticeably lower than the beach hotels and put the savings towards evenings out and transport to other parts of the island.

3. Sant Antoni de Portmany - best area for sunsets and a trip with friends 🌅
- 📍 Distance to the centre: You’ll be in a separate town on the west coast, around 15 km from Ibiza Town.
- 🚕 Transport: The town centre and harbour are easy to walk around. Buses and taxis connect other parts of the island; which side of the bay your hotel is on matters.
- ✈️ Journey from Ibiza Airport: Allow around 25 to 35 minutes by car as a planning estimate.
- 💰 Price level: € to €€€. The choice of accommodation gives you more options on a smaller budget than many of the island’s most expensive beach hotels.
- 👮 Safety: There’s plenty of nightlife in the centre. Read reviews about noise and watch your belongings at bars and sunset spots.
Sant Antoni de Portmany is often called San Antonio on booking sites. The town is on the west coast and is a good choice for sunsets, bars and a wider choice of hotels. I’d particularly look here for a trip with friends where price also matters.
You can stay centrally and walk between the harbour, restaurants and nightlife, or choose a hotel a little away from the streets where the party scene is most noticeable.
The area around the sunset bars is a big part of the appeal. It’s lovely to walk down towards the water in the evening without turning it into a major outing, but I’d still check the exact location. Hotels around San Antonio Bay can be a long way from the town centre.
A room overlooking the bay may therefore mean more travelling than a smaller hotel in town, even if both appear as San Antonio in your search.

For a holiday with more comfort, I’d look towards the northern part around Es Caló d’es Moro and on towards Cala Gració. This is where you’ll find Blau Parc and OKU, offering two different hotel experiences away from the middle of the bar streets.
It’s still an area with tourists and plenty going on, so I wouldn’t confuse a quieter hotel address with a promise of silence throughout your holiday.
Sant Antoni isn’t the most practical base if you’ll be spending every evening in Playa d’en Bossa. Compare the lower hotel price with what you expect to spend travelling across the island. You can check current connections with the island’s bus operator, but pay attention to the season and the last departure.
I’d choose Sant Antoni to enjoy the west coast and the town itself, then head elsewhere on evenings when the plans make sense.
Places to Stay in Sant Antoni de Portmany
OKU Ibiza - best luxury hotel for friends or couples
OKU is a five-star hotel with a restaurant, bar, gym and garden, where the interiors and time around the pool are a big part of the stay. I’d choose it when you want more from your days than waiting for the evening’s plans.
The location north of the centre works best if you don’t mind a longer journey to the harbour and prefer a more luxurious hotel to the most central address.

Hotel & Spa Blau Parc - best hotel by Es Caló d’es Moro
Blau Parc is beside the small beach of Es Caló d’es Moro in the northern part of Sant Antoni. It’s a good option if you want the sea close by and evenings along the west coast, while staying a little away from the busiest party streets in the centre.
I’d choose it as a middle ground between a hotel purely for a town stay and somewhere further away where every dinner means arranging transport.

Hostal Marí - best budget option in central Sant Antoni
Hostal Marí is a family-run guesthouse in the centre with a café and restaurant. I’d stay here if the plan was to be out most of the day and walk to places to eat in the evening, rather than pay extra for a large resort.
It’s a simpler base, but the central location makes it worth considering when you want to keep hotel costs down and still have town life close by.

4. Santa Eulària des Riu - best town for families and quiet evenings 🌴
- 📍 Distance to the centre: Around 15 km from Ibiza Town. Choose somewhere near the centre, beach or marina if you want to walk to most places.
- 🚕 Transport: The promenade and town centre are easy to walk around. Buses, taxis or a car are useful for trips out of town.
- ✈️ Journey from Ibiza Airport: Roughly 25 to 35 minutes by car.
- 💰 Price level: €€ to €€€. There are plenty of good hotels, but a quieter town doesn’t automatically mean lower prices.
- 👮 Safety: Keep children close by the marina, follow the beach flags and check how far your hotel is from the main roads.
Santa Eulària des Riu, also written Santa Eulalia, is my choice for the best place to stay for a family holiday in Ibiza with a beach, restaurants and a proper town beside your hotel. You can walk along the promenade and choose from places to eat without the big clubs setting the tone.
It also suits couples who want quiet evenings but would still like to go out and find somewhere new for dinner.
I’d start the search around the central beach and marina. That way, most little outings can be on foot, and you won’t need to pack the car to buy an ice cream or go down to the water. Hotels further along the coast may have more space, but it’s worth checking the walk back to the centre.
A good family base is as much about everyday distances as the number of pools.

There are also plenty of adults-only hotels in the area, so check the hotel type before falling in love with the photos. Catalonia Royal Ses Estaques below is a choice for couples, for example, while Hotel Tres Torres offers a different type of stay near the marina.
For somewhere smaller with a garden and pool, Ibizazen is worth considering. All three offer different settings for your stay, even though the town is the same.
I’d choose a different base if you want to go clubbing every night. The distance to the main party areas makes transport a recurring part of the budget. Santa Eulària works best when you actually want to enjoy the beach, restaurants and slower pace here.

Places to Stay in Santa Eulària des Riu
Catalonia Royal Ses Estaques - Adults Only - best seaside hotel for couples
Catalonia Royal Ses Estaques is by the sea near the marina area. It’s an adults-only hotel where the pool and relaxation take priority over children’s activities. I’d suggest it for couples who want a comfortable hotel stay and the option of heading into Santa Eulària for dinner.
I’d choose a suite based on the view and space, so the hotel is also somewhere you’ll want to spend your afternoons.

Hotel Tres Torres - a good hotel with a pool by the marina
Hotel Tres Torres faces the marina and has an outdoor pool and balconies in the rooms. It’s a practical choice when you want to walk out for dinner and have a central base where you can also take a break by the pool.
I’d consider it for a holiday where the location should make everyday plans easy, and choose a room type to suit the number of adults and children rather than only comparing the standard price for two people.

Ibizazen - best small hotel for a quiet stay
Ibizazen occupies a renovated 18th-century farmhouse, with an outdoor pool and rooms overlooking the garden or pool. It offers a smaller, more personal setting than a large beach resort, with private parking if you’d like to take trips around the island.
I’d choose it for couples who want to spend time in green surroundings and value a small hotel more than a spot right on the beachfront promenade.

5. Portinatx - best area for a quiet beach holiday in the north 🐠
- 📍 Distance to the centre: You’ll be in a small resort on the north coast, around 30 km from Ibiza Town.
- 🚕 Transport: You can walk between the local beaches and places to eat. A car helps if you want to take several day trips; check current bus departures.
- ✈️ Journey from Ibiza Airport: Allow around 40 to 50 minutes by car as a planning estimate.
- 💰 Price level: €€ to €€€. There’s less choice than in the larger resorts, so compare options early for high season.
- 👮 Safety: Follow the beach flags, keep to clear coastal paths and don’t let children walk alone near the cliffs.
Portinatx is my suggestion if you want a holiday in northern Ibiza with small beaches and less town life around you. You can stay near the coves and let your days revolve around swimming, lunch and a return to the pool.
I’d particularly choose it as a couple or with family when the priority is relaxing by the sea and having a small, easy base to return to.
The area has several small beaches, including S’Arenal Petit, and it’s worth checking your hotel’s position in relation to that particular beach. A hotel right by the water can make everyday life easy, while an address further uphill can mean more slopes between your room and a swim.
I’d choose a short walk to the beach when travelling with children and expecting to head back for food or a midday break.
The distance to the south is the main compromise. You can easily visit Ibiza Town, but I wouldn’t choose Portinatx if you already know you’ll spend most evenings down there. That would mean plenty of time in a car and money spent on transport.
It’s a different matter for a holiday with just a few outings, and a hire car can give you the freedom to see more of the northern part of the island at your own pace.
You’ll also have fewer restaurants and hotel options than in Santa Eulària, so your choice of accommodation matters more. Several hotels are adults-only, while others offer a simpler setting near the beach.

Barceló Portinatx - Adults Only - best hotel for couples near the beach
Barceló Portinatx is an adults-only hotel around 100 metres from the beach, with two pools. It’s a good choice for a holiday with both beach time and time at the hotel, where the northern location is part of the reason for visiting.
I’d choose a room category with a sea view if afternoons on the terrace or balcony are part of the plan, and use the hotel as a base for a quiet stay rather than daily trips to the clubs in town.

Grupotel Ibiza Beach Resort is near the beach and has an outdoor pool and a spa with a sauna and hot tub. It suits couples who want more ways to relax at the hotel itself and don’t need to stay in a larger town.
I’d compare it with Barceló for your specific dates; the difference in room rates could pay for a couple of good dinners or a hire car for day trips.

Hostal La Cigüeña - best smaller place by S’Arenal Petit
La Cigüeña is a few steps from S’Arenal Petit and has a seasonal outdoor pool, terrace and bar. It’s worth considering if a short walk to the beach matters more than staying at a large resort.
I’d choose a room with the view you want and make the little bay the focus of the holiday, so most days can be spent walking between the hotel, beach and somewhere nearby for a meal.

6. Cala Llonga - best area for an easy holiday beside a sandy bay 🏖️
- 📍 Distance to the centre: Around 5 km from Santa Eulària and about 12 km from Ibiza Town, depending on the route.
- 🚕 Transport: You can walk between the beach and local places to eat. Buses, taxis or a car are useful for bigger shopping trips and outings.
- ✈️ Journey from Ibiza Airport: Allow around 25 to 35 minutes by car as a planning estimate.
- 💰 Price level: €€ to €€€. You can choose between apartments and larger hotels by the bay.
- 👮 Safety: Follow the beach flags, watch children by the water and check the hills and steps around your hotel.
Cala Llonga is a small, easy-to-get-around resort around a sandy bay on the east coast. I’d choose it if you want your beach holiday in one compact area without having to pick between lots of different neighbourhoods.
You can spend your days by the bay and eat nearby in the evening, while Santa Eulària and Ibiza Town are still options for a day trip when you fancy more town life.
It’s a particularly good choice for families who want short journeys between their accommodation, the beach and a meal. There are also larger hotels, so couples can choose more comfort and spend their days by the pool.
I’d still check the specific type of hotel: somewhere with music around the pool gives you a different holiday from a smaller apartment set back from the water, even if both are in the same quiet bay.

The ground rises around the beach, and photos taken from a balcony can hide quite a few steps or a hill on the way home. Choose based on the route to the water if you’re travelling with a pushchair or want to walk back and forth several times a day.
Hotels right by the bay make it easy to stay in the area, while an apartment a little further away may give you more space for your money if you don’t mind the extra walk.
Cala Llonga is less suited to a week where you want to eat somewhere new late every evening and visit several big clubs. For that, I’d rather stay in Ibiza Town or Playa d’en Bossa. Here, I’d plan a few outings and otherwise keep the days simple.
Outside the busiest season, check opening hours and transport connections before expecting the same choice of activities as in midsummer.

Mondrian Beach Lifestyle Resort by Accor - best hotel for a more luxurious stay by the bay
Mondrian is in Cala Llonga, around a five-minute walk from the beach, and is a good choice if you want to make more of the hotel stay itself. The terrace and views offer a different setting from a simple apartment behind the beachfront streets.
I’d choose it as a couple or for a holiday where you’ll spend a fair part of the day at the hotel, and weigh up the exact room view against the price before choosing a category.

Hyde Ibiza Beach Resort by Accor - a good beach hotel with a pool and gym
Hyde is by the beach and has a seasonal outdoor pool, gym and garden. You can easily switch between the pool and sand while having more facilities than at a small apartment complex.
I’d compare it with Mondrian for your dates and choose it when you can get the practical beachfront location at a lower price without missing the more luxurious interiors.

Apartamentos Cana Sofía - best simple apartments near the beach
Cana Sofía is a small apartment complex around 300 metres from the beach, with an outdoor pool, garden, sun terrace and bar. It’s worth considering if you’d like simpler holiday accommodation and still want to walk down to the bay.
I’d choose it for a stay where the beach and day trips matter more than the hotel’s interiors, and where a smaller place suits the budget better than the large resorts.

Where Should You Avoid Staying in Ibiza?
I’d avoid booking a hotel right in the nightlife if you want a quiet holiday, even if the price is good. That applies to parts of Playa d’en Bossa and the busiest party streets in Sant Antoni.
Read about noise at the specific address rather than just the town in general, as two hotels a few streets apart can be very different.
I also wouldn’t stay far north to save on the hotel if the plan is to visit clubs near Ibiza Town or Playa d’en Bossa almost every evening. Transport becomes a regular expense and takes time out of your holiday.
Without a car, a villa far from a town or beach isn’t automatically a good deal either, even if the pool photos look lovely.
For a first trip, I’d start with Ibiza Town because it gives you several options within one holiday. Playa d’en Bossa works best when you want to combine the beach and clubs, while Sant Antoni is a good suggestion for sunsets and a trip with friends.
Santa Eulària is my first choice for a family holiday with a proper town close by, and Cala Llonga makes it easy to centre your days on a beach-lined bay.
I’d choose Portinatx when peace, swimming and a few outings are enough for a good holiday. Start with the area that suits your plans, then compare hotels for your actual dates.
In Ibiza, the right address is often worth more than an extra star because it determines how easily you can have the holiday you came for. On a short trip, I’d keep one base and spend the time enjoying the island rather than changing hotels. A week gives you more room for both beach days and trips to other areas.
