Odense – Hans Christian Andersen’s city – has a lot to offer. And precisely because it is the hometown of the world-renowned adventure writer, tourists make pilgrimages to the city all year round.
Whether you are visiting from abroad or elsewhere in Denmark, I have gathered 10 of the best hotels in Odense.
By the way – I’m Danish, and even though I now live in Copenhagen, I was born in Odense and spent my childhood and a good chunk of my adult life in the city.
The selection varies from the more luxurious ones with four stars and lots of nice facilities to cheap hotels with two stars, where the conditions are still in order but where the space is tight and where there is not a large selection of facilities.
The latter is particularly suitable for those who only use the hotel to stay overnight, while family holidays, long-term trips and business trips may require different and better standards.
I hope my guide can help you find the right accommodation option for your stay in Odense.

9. Cabinn Odense Hotel – cheap hotel by the station
- Location: Østre Stationsvej 7-9
- Number of stars: **
If you prefer a low price over many fancy facilities, it can also easily be done on Funen. Here, Cabinn Odense Hotel is a good choice for one of the cheap hotels in Odense.
The hotel is located well, midway between HC Andersen’s House and Denmark’s Railway Museum – a short distance from Odense Station.
The rooms are tiny, but if you just need a place to sleep while you are in Odense, the hotel is a good and cheap option.
There is an option to buy breakfast, and then there is a laundry service. But all in all, a simple and cheap hotel for you who just need a place to spend the night on your trip to Odense.
I have stayed at Cabinn several times when I was young and had to go into town with friends in Odense. It is excellent because it is centrally located and a very cheap hotel, but on the other hand, there is not much comfort.
It’s also convenient if you come to Odense from Copenhagen on the train.

10. Milling Hotel Mini 19
- Location: Hans Tausensgade 19
- Number of stars: **
Milling Hotel Mini 19 is the little brother of the other Milling hotels. The concept and standard are the same, but size, facilities and price have been reduced. If you choose the Economy rooms, you can typically get an excellent price for your stay.
Although it is a low-cost hotel, the location is not at fault. The hotel is centrally located in Odense, with a short distance to public transport and various attractions. It is possible to purchase breakfast, and there is a snack bar, computer station and laundry service on site.
There is nothing further fancy about the hotel, and the facilities are minimal, but it is an excellent choice for an overnight stay if you only need to use the hotel to sleep.

In this guide, I’ve mentioned everything from luxurious hotels with many facilities to mid-range hotels and even very cheap budget hotels. The choice depends entirely on the purpose of the trip to Odense.
Maybe you need a cheap place to spend the night, and then a small 2-star hotel is fine, but perhaps you need a base for the family trip – and then suddenly, there are other requirements for hotel standards and facilities.
I hope you can use this guide to hotels in Odense and are now ready to visit Hans Christian Andersen’s hometown.
